Photography and Society - that was the topic of this year´s International Photo Symposium Pilsen held at the Ladislav Sutnar Faculty of Design and Art. The programme of the symposium offered a number of lectures and workshops for art students and the public who were able to meet renowned photographers from the Czech Republic, Ireland, the Netherlands, the USA and other countries.
This year´s topic offered a wide range of interpretations, approaches and concepts including socially commited photography, social document, changing role of photography in the society and belief in the objectivity of photography.
The symposium welcomed the following artists: Pavel Mára (CZ), Štěpán Grygar (CZ), Justin Carville (IRL), Iren Stehli (CH/CZ), Dovile Dagiene (LT), Olja Triaška Stefanovič (SRB/SK), Vojtěch Aubrecht (CZ), Radovan Kodera (CZ), Katerina Snishko (NL/UA), Guillaume Chauvin (F), Karen Irvine (USA), Josef Ptáček (CZ).
An exhibition called "Photography and Society"presented photographic work of the above mentioned artists at the Ladislav Sutnar Gallery.
The symposium also included exhibitions of student works and presentations of guest artist portfolios.
