Doc. Josef Mištera, the late director of the Institute of Art and Design, has become the fist dean in the history of the Faculty of Art and Design. He was unanimously elected by the FAD Academic Senate on 7 January 2014 and appointed by the rector of the University of West Bohemia on 15 January 2014. He will lead the Faculty of Art and Design for the following four years.
Doc. akad. mal. Josef Mištera - illustrator, graphic artist, painter, animated movie artist, university pedagogue, founder and until recently also director of the Institute of Art and Design of the University of West Bohemia. Josef Mištera is the founder and art director of the international summer school of art ArtCamp and of the international competition for high school students Teendesign. He stood at the beginning of forming the Pilsen Techmania Science Center as member of its board of directors and he works actively as member of the Pilsen - European Capital of Culture 2015 board of directors. For more than 10 years he has been member of juries for national competitions Graphic of the Year and Young Design, member of the UWB Scientific Board and chairman of the Arts Council of the late Institute of Art and Design. He has established the Gallery Above the Stairs and the Ladislav Sutnar Gallery including their exhibition programmes. As director of the Institute of Art and Design he successfully led the school to its transformation into the Faculty of Art and Design and accomplished the construction of a new modern building for the school. He works actively on development of the international relations and he has set up the Ladislav Sutnar Prize which is internationally renowned. His conception of the faculty and its strategy follows the legacy of the internationally renowned Czech-American designer Ladislav Sutnar, whose symbolic return to Pilsen, his native city, is also the merit of Josef Mištera. He is currently working on establishment of the Pre-Incubator and subsequently the Creative Industries Incubator in Pilsen and on establishment of the Ladislav Sutnar Museum of Design.
The ninth year of the art competition for high school students Teendesign has its winners!
The laureates received the prize which bears the name of the world-famous artist and designer Ladislav Sutnar from the hands of his son Radoslav L. Sutnar at an award ceremony which took place at the Pilsen City Hall on 12 November 2013.
The doors of The Ladislav Sutnar´s Faculty of Design and Art and its studios opened for all visitors on Friday 1 November 2013.
Monika Lepschy received one of the main awards at yesterday´s finals of the international Arts of Fashion Competition in San Francisco.
The Faculty of Art and Design will soon open its doors to all art lovers and young artists interested in studying at our faculty. The Doors Open Day will take place on 1 November 2013 from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m.

The Faculty of Art and Design of the University of West Bohemia will again award outstanding artists and pedagogues with the prestigeous Ladislav Sutnar Prize.
On Tuesday 23 July 2013 at 5pm, the visitors of the Ladislav Sutnar Gallery will have an unique opportunity to become familiar with the work of Slovak photographer Miro Švolík. The exhibiting artist himself will guide them through his show Men should listen carefully to what woman tell them / Photographs 1985 – 2013. More information about the exhibition here.
Miro Švolík - ArtCamp 2013 visiting artist, renowned Slovak photographer and pedagogue at the Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Bratislava, began his Group Photography course with practical example on Monday 8 July. He shot a photograph of about five hundred participants of the International Summer Language School which takes place at the university campus together with ArtCamp. The students stood in a shape of a triangle which is part of the University of West Bohemia logo.
