PhD Infra UWB (University of West Bohemia)

The aim of the "PhD Infra UWB" project, reg. no. CZ.02.01/00/22_012/0005200, is to develop the material and infrastructural facilities of doctoral study programs in order to increase the quality and international competitiveness of future research workers' training, i.e., education provided in doctoral study programs (excellence of doctoral studies). Within this project, the FDU (Faculty of Design and Art) acquired several professional devices for research experimental activities of doctoral students, and also ensured acoustic solutions for the teaching space and lighting in the Incubator gallery.

The PhD Infra UWB project is supported by the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports within the call for Development of Infrastructure for Doctoral Study Programs of the Jan Amos Comenius Operational Program. The PhD Infra UWB project is co-financed by the European Union.

IOGI 2

The IOGI 2 project focuses on developing artists' competencies, networking, and workshops in the CCI (Cultural and Creative Industries) sector. Specifically, it involves creating a book collection of comic works at the intersection of sociological comics and comics with significant poetic value on the theme of everyday life in Japan. The book will be created based on a month-long stay of 10 artists in Japan during August 2024. Students from Ladislav Sutnar Faculty of Design and Art will work on the comic drawings under the guidance of comic artist and illustrator Václav Šlajch. The screenplay will be written by poet Jean-Gaspard Páleníček.

The IOGI 2 project builds on the highly successful comic book IOGI (2021), which received awards such as the Japan International Manga Award, the Muriel Award for Best Screenplay, the Pilsen City Art Award, and has been translated into English, Japanese, and Polish. The IOGI 2 project (ref. no. 0314000156) was supported by the Ministry of Culture of the Czech Republic within the grant call NPO - Artist Status - Call No. 4/2023 - Mobility III (0314).
