Our exhibitions

Sutnar Faculty approaches the general and professional public through its numerous exhibition projects taking place both in the Czech Republic and abroad.

The nature of the exhibitions that are initiated and produced by the Ladislav Sutnar Faculty of Design and Art is diverse. The programme of the Ladislav Sutnar Gallery includes presentation of the work of studio leaders, solo exhibitions of guest artists, the annual International Photography Exhibition and Symposium, the Graphic Art of the Year, and curated projects that address the importance of the work of Ladislav Sutnar, such as SHAPES and The World of Tomorrow. The on-campus Incubator Gallery offers a flexible space for projects initiated by students, studio leaders, collectives, and guests.

With the Klauzury and Thesis exhibitions that yearly attract a high number of visitors, the Sutnar Faculty´s remarkable postindustrial building transforms into a feast for fans of new design and art. Visitors are also introduced to the students-focused off-spaces Metallum (Metalworking and Jewellery Studio) and Entrée Gallery (Studio of Photography).

Parallel to organizing exhibitions at its own turf, Sutnarka strongly focuses on international projects with partner institutions in Israel, Taiwan and the United States. Highlights include: Chimera, an exhibition of Taiwanese digital media art; Butterflies don’t live in the ghetto, an exhibition in commemoration of the Holocaust that travels to Giv’atayim City Gallery in Tel Aviv; and Masaryk Square AR/VR exhibition produced in collaboration with Holon Institute of Technology.

Sutnar Faculty’s main exhibition activities are managed by the faculty curator Jan Van Woensel who also heads the renowned Ladislav Sutnar Gallery and is an active contributor to the faculty’s internationalization via his art and research projects.
